Somewhere to play.
Studio 22 is a passion project. There should be somewhere you can open a tab, pick a game and play it. No account to make, no pop-up to close, nobody watching. Every game here was made by one person, for that.
How it was made
By hand, in plain JavaScript. No framework, and no off-the-shelf game engine. One small engine written for this site handles the canvas, the input, the loop and the sound, and each game is a few hundred lines on top of it. Nothing comes from a template, so every game plays like a decision somebody made.
What it stands for
- No accounts. Nothing to sign up for. Nothing to log into.
- No ads. Not now, not later, not "just this one".
- Nothing collected. No analytics, no trackers, no names. Your scores live in the tab you are playing in and die with it.
- No server. The whole site is files. There is nowhere to keep anything about you, which is a stronger promise than choosing not to.
- Any device. Phone, tablet, laptop, TV, controller. Every game takes touch, keys and a gamepad. A game that only works on one of them is not finished.
Play with people
Some of it is better with a room. Party mode passes one device around for two to six players. No second screen, no lobby, no invites.
